Harbor House seeks Transitional Employment Opportunities

A key Clubhouse goal is to enable its members to return to paid work, Employment promotes recovery and independence.

Harbor House seeks to establish relationships with businesses in Rhode Island who can provide Transitional Employment (TE) opportunities so that members can continue their path to wellness. Some of the companies who have supported clubhouse TEs around the US include:

TJX Companies (TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Home Goods, A. J. Wright), University of Massachusetts Medical School, CVS/Pharmacy, Qunsigamond Community College, Stop & Shop, Stamford (CT) Marriott, ARAMARK Higher Education (PA) and Sovereign Bank.

Do you know a Rhode Island employer who has a part-time “hard-to-fill” job?

Advantages to the employer include:

  • a dependable, punctual and eager worker
  • Harbor House staff support to ensure that the job will be done every day, to the employer’s satisfaction
  • no cost of hiring and training new employees
  • recognition for providing valuable community service
  • tax credits

The Transitional Employment (TE) agreement is between the employer and Harbor House. Harbor House guarantees that the position will always be filled with a qualified worker. Clubhouse Staff will select, train and coach the employee, and will substitute in case of absence.

Current Harbor House members have a diverse range of skills and experience: accounting and bookkeeping, computer and general office skills, teaching, data entry, retail sales, and food service,

Transitional Employment Update

Harbor House is pleased to announce that we have secured two T.E positions at NAMI. Two of Harbor House members started at the end of August working as Administration Assistants. Peter Haas and Jeremiah Rainville are the first of the Harbor House members to start in this these positions. Harbor House will be able to place two new members in this position every 6-9 months.
