Welcome

Harbor House is an independent Clubhouse where Rhode Islanders recovering from mental illness can engage with each other to regain their confidence, experience productive employment, and re-enter society.

The mission of Harbor House is to develop a strong, sustainable, certified, independent Providence Clubhouse, that provides people living with mental illness opportunities for recovery through a community of mutual support. Our goal is a high quality of life for all members and the ultimate elimination of stigma against those with mental illness. Our employment and education services and programs are based on a belief in the potential for success of each participant.

Members are responsible for the operation of the Clubhouse, in collaboration with a small professional staff. Membership is free and for life.

Focus is on a work-ordered day, with the opportunity for transitional, supported and independent employment in the community.

There are over 300 Clubhhouses like Harbor House around the world.

The International Center for Clubhouse Development (www.ICCD.org) provides the standards for successful operation and certification.
